The Association of Professional Photographers of Bulgaria presents the exhibition ‘20 years BG Press Photo’ The ‘BG Press Photo’ national exhibition and photo contest is organised by the eponymous foundation and has been taking place each year since 2002. This is the only Bulgarian photo contest exclusively for photojournalism and is the longest ongoing photo contest in the country. The prominent Bulgarian photo journalist Tsvetan Tomchev was the inspirer and founder of the initiative. The exhibition features freelance photographers as well as contributers to printed and electronic media and photographers from information agencies within the country. The exhibition is a visual imprint of the political, social and cultural life in Bulgaria. An interesting fact is that, throughout the years, the panel of judges for the contest comprised of both Bulgarian photographers and journalists and representatives of partner photo journalism contests in Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Russia and Romania, including world-renowned photo journalists such as the recently diseased Pulitzer prize winner Edward Keating. The exhibition will be displayed in Rome upon invitation of the Bulgarian cultural institute in Galleria Bulgaria at the following address: Via di Monte Brianzo, 60, 00186 Roma; next to Piazza di Spagna. The official opening will take place at 16.00 on the 1st of May.
